What is Safe Routes to School?

Johnson Elementary is very happy to have the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program on campus! SRTS is a program funded by Congress with 48 schools in the El Paso Independent School District, including Johnson, receiving funds for this health initiative! This program will encourage students along with their parents to consider the health benefits of walking and biking to school throughout the year. It will require the participation and effort of all members of the community - faculty, staff, parents, and students - to make this initiative a success!

¡Johnson Elementary está muy feliz de tener el programa Safe Routes to School (Rutas Seguras a la Escuela) en el campus! SRTS es un programa financiado por el Congreso, con 48 escuelas en el Distrito Escolar Independiente de El Paso incluyendo a Johnson, que reciben fondos para esta iniciativa de salud! Este programa animará a los estudiantes junto con sus padres a considerar los beneficios de caminar y andar en bicicleta a la escuela durante todo el año. ¡Se requerirá la participación y el esfuerzo de todos los miembros de la comunidad - la facultad, personal, padres y alumnos - para que esta iniciativa sea un éxito!
